  South Island

  Regional Manager of a freight company: which distributes chilled and frozen foodstuffs nationwide. I was the Manager of approximately 23 staff and I had 14 trucks under my control and we service the whole of the South Island of New Zealand with the main South Island depot in Christchurch and a second depot in Dunedin. I had since starting with this company relocated our Christchurch branch into brand new premises and opened up a new depot in Dunedin. I had also since starting with this company brought it from5 staff and 3 trucks to what it is today including an increase of a 500% turnover in annual sales within the southern region. The name of the company is called Big Chill Distribution Ltd. As Regional Manager the types of roles required are as follows: • Knowledge and proven experience in finances and budgets. • Experience in sales and recruitment of new business • Previous management and operations experience. • Negotiating skills. • New business development. • Focus on business growth and staff development. • Deal with staffing levels and recruitment requirements. • All deadlines are met and are done in a safe manner. • Compliant of all health and safety standards. (OSH) • Ensuring that all facets of the business are done to optimize maximum efficiencies in all areas. • Ensure that all regulations/laws are adhered to by all staff, with particular care to the safety of staff and the general public. • Relief driving of all runs and all other staffing roles. • Meeting all deadlines for weekly, monthly and six monthly reporting to head office. • Ensuring all areas are kept to a high standard of cleanliness including uniforms and vehicles. • Contracting of all outside suppliers ensuring rates and costs are kept to minimum. • Overseeing and checking of all invoicing. • Support and direction of key people under my supervision. • Implementation of systems and procedures to ensure the business is running at maximum efficiency. • Procurement of new equipment. • Accountable for all spendature and outgoing revenue. • Ongoing development of personnel. • Ensuring that all customers' needs/issues are dealt with in a timely and professional manner. Due to the Global recession a restructure within the company saw my role as South Island Regional Manager was disestablished and I was made redundant mid November of 2009 and had found work with Jet Star as a ramp operator before acquiring a role as Night Operations Supervisor for Peter Baker Transport.
