Due to the large workforce and complexity of works on these sites RIO TINTO have made me a Permit Officer. • Planning, creating, implementing electrical and mechanical isolations from electrical and building drawings. • Creating and implementing documentation and procedures for the isolating and re-energisation of work fronts. • Testing of electrical circuits prior to isolation and re-energisation, making sure work crews have not damaged any cables during their works. • Supervising work crews. • Adhering to all of Sodexo's and RIO TINTO's safe work practices and procedures.

    Electrician: Ray Brookes manufactures various sized LV switchboards ranging from 63A panel boards to 1250A 5.5m long Site Main Switchboards. • Preparing the board for installing electrical equipment using basic metal working and hand tool skills, jig sawing, grinding, drilling, tapping, hole punching • Installing various sized LV switchgear, circuit breakers, direct and CT power metering circuits • Designing, measuring, bending and installing copper busbars, from simple tags to customised 1250A systems • Working closely with the electrical engineering team and sheet metal team to change the board layout on the fly, as needed • QA and basic testing of boards prior to dispatch • Aiding the apprentice in learning electrical techniques and furthering their knowledge

    Electrical Technician: HES specialises in services associated with HV&LV substations and switchyard equipment. Equipment such as: circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers and protection relays.
