Senior Men's Family Violence Practitioner: Yoowinna Wurnalung Healing Service Duties: Responsible for coordinating the Time out program activities at the Time Out farm. This has also been a community development role in supporting local Indigenous Men's groups to develop and run activities across the region to address the underlying causes, effects and impacts of family violence. These activities include Men's camps and Health and Wellbeing programs. A proactive approach to encourage men to attend drug and alcohol free events, day to day activities, bringing men together in a safe environment to yarn and revive cultural dances, art and ceremonies. My role was to support and advocate for funding to assist with prevention activities. Second in Charge Responsibilities: My duties also included working with individuals, families and community groups as well as creating working partnerships with Victoria Police, Justice Department, Corrections, Aboriginal Co-ops, Schools, TAFE's and Universities. Partnerships were developed with local Health, Drug and Alcohol services, women's crisis centres, rehab and detox services, Elders and Youth groups, employers, local prisons, Family Violence Groups, and National Men against Violence organisations. Skills: I have demonstrated experience in working with Indigenous men, their partners and children, and the issues relating to men. Sound administration and organisational skills including computer skills Well developed interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with Indigenous and non Indigenous workers and their agencies Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work autonomously with limited supervision Knowledge: Demonstrated intimate knowledge and understanding of the Gippsland Indigenous community, culture and issues relating to community members Demonstrated understanding of the issues that contribute to Indigenous family violence (including abusive behaviours) and the impact on family and community members Demonstrated understanding of the family violence prevention service system Demonstrated understanding of the issues concerning confidentiality and the development of trust among community Demonstrated understanding of privacy and confidential information
