  Knowledge and Learning Management: Napoli Group is a Training and Advising company to the mining industry specializing in all aspects of open cut mining and utilization of equipment in open pit mining and were charged with training and safety upgrade of the Gieta Gold mine for AngloGold Ashanti a leading producer of Gold and Silver in mainly opencut mining using Excavator and Shovel operations across three continents I was contracted to work for 14 months with Napoli Group as a technical advisor and trainer and assessor at the AngloGold Ashanti, Geita gold mine in Tanzania to train and mentor operators in safe mining practices, training and upskilling operators in use of equipment below.   Downer EDI

  Trainer: Downer EDI delivers contract mining and civil earthmoving services to coal and metalliferous mining clients at all stages of the mining lifecycle. In August 2010 Downer EDI was awarded a six-year mining service contract provide mining services under a six year contract at Fortescue Metals Group’s Christmas Creek iron ore mine. I joined Downer at the start of the contract. This was a green fields project as there were no specific trainers for loaders and there was a lot of pressure to have staff assess and trained on equipment and operational quickly. Initially my role was that of assessor, however, as I was the team member to undertake training, I was assigned all training and assessment on loaders with operators that had no loader experience. I also trained operators on stemming loaders. Operators were initially trained on small machines and then graduated to CAT 992K and then CAT 993K. Training took anywhere from 2.5 hours to 60-70 hour depending upon the skills and aptitude of the operator. Working with five trainers and assessors in each shift I provided training specifically on: • CAT 992G • CAT 992K, 993K • CAT 994D • CAT 980H • CAT 930IT • CAT D10T/R Dozers • Komatsu WA500IT stemming loaders • CAT 854K wheel dozers • CAT 777F, 785C, 793C trucks • Bell B50D articulated dump truck • CAT 777D, 777F water carts • Manitou extendable forklift • Kenworth 8 wheel water cart as well as numerous road trucks including articulated and road train.

  BIS Industrial

  Driver: I initially joined BIS as a truck driver at Newlands open cut and underground longwall coal operations operating side tippers, road train and power train. After a year I moved to operating loaders as well and then applied to become a trainer. BIS funded my partial completion of 2-3 modules of a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and trained operators on trucks and loaders. I was also service man in service on equipment as well as conducting safety audits and update of MSDS and compliance with national labeling and storage. I operated and trained employees on: • Komatsu WA800, WA900 • CAT 992G, 980G, 966G • 5 Trailer Dual Powered Road Trains • Cat Skid Steer • Manitou long Reach Forklift
