ROADTRAIN DRIVER ~ WA STATION BASED
Our client is a family owned and operated company located 60km east of Broome in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The business spans across six properties and 870,000 hectares. The primary business focus is on developing an intensive grazing program where they utilise 8 centre pivot irrigators that grow hay all year round to supply fodder to the feedlot and dryland farming country along with pastoral grazing. The 5 thousand head capacity feedlot is the hub of a rapidly expanding and diverse pastoral business. The home/base station (500,000 acres) is operated as a trading block with the aim to background and fatten cattle utilising all areas of the business to support the model. Intensive infrastructure development is key to the expansion of this exciting and progressive business.
Our client is seeking a road train driver to step into their well maintained and immaculately kept Kenworth truck. You will have proven experience driving a road train as well as carting cattle. Preference will be given to applicants that display leadership qualities and the ability to step up to the role of trucking division supervisor. These roles are based on station with a variety of tasks from open road cattle carting, hay carting and paddock carting. Common trips might include, the Gibb River Road (dirt), from station to Geraldton (approx. 2,000kms one way), paddock carting from the joint venture properties (around 150kms away). These roles offer opportunity for variety to suitable applicants with experience operating machinery. Maintenance and upkeep of truck and trailers is 100% the driver responsibility. You will need to posses skills to facilitate this.
Drivers are appointed a truck and stock crates. It is their responsibly to maintain and uphold cleanliness of their truck and trailers. There are great facilities such as a pit, a wash down area and large sheds where trucks can be bought in to be work on. A full-time mechanic who is able to assist drivers with issues or offer advice is also available.
This position is very well supported with the station cook providing meal for on the road as well as at the station, highly competitive day rate, modern well appointed accommodation on station.
