• Carry out Pre- Start checks on rig, support vehicles and equipment [e.g. all machines
are fuelled up and oil and water is checked daily]
• Inspect site for hazards prior to start up [e.g. trip hazards, uneven ground, hoses]
• Assist the driller in carrying out field operations including
• maintain a supply of correct lengths of drill rods
• clean and grease drill rod threads, ready for use.
• adding and removing drill rods and casing in hole
• mixing drill mud and cement
• assembly and disassembly of all drilling equipment
• install PVC casing and gravel pack
• install steel boreheads and set in concrete
• grout drill holes with and without a tremmie pipe
• collect and Lay out soil samples neatly and in correct order.
• Make sure rig is full of fuel at the end of each shift.
• Maintain a supply of water to the rig at all times.
• Ensure the drill site is clean and tidy at all times together with all rubbish back
loaded to the support vehicle.
• Monitor the supply of drill bits, tubes etc. and consumables on the rig and in good
condition. Inform driller of any shortages.
• Keep all tools clean and in good condition [e.g. stilsons jaws sharpened or replaced]. •
Maintain all vehicles in a clean and tidy condition inside and out.
• Carry out basic maintenance on equipment as required.
• Work unsupervised and be co-operative with the clients’ representatives and conform to the clients safety policies.
