Alcoa Operator 2010 – 2014

Alcoa’s Australian operations represent the world’s largest integrated bauxite
mining, alumina refining, and aluminium smelting and rolling system.
Alcoa Yennora is home to Australia’s largest aluminium recycling facility, and an aluminium flat rolled products facility.

Responsibilities:
• Operate the mill including the rolling of scalped and pre-heated ingot at high
temperatures through a one stand reversing mill and then through a two
stand hot continuous mill to produce a coil sheet for subsequent cold rolling;
• Accurately recording all data and temperatures of batches to ensure
consistency;
• The safe and efficient operation of all plant and equipment including the overhead gantry cranes (10 tonne) and forklift;
• Carry out all functions and activities rotating through the duties of an
Operator;
• Maintain machinery ensuring the process continues to run to production
schedules
• Engage and monitor furnaces and machinery providing a transformation to rolled products;
• Handle all hazardous substances with care, be highly safety aware; and • Maintain internal record keeping.

Achievements:
• Acted as the Health & Safety Representative for the team in the can stock
area;
• Successfully completed the “Days Since Last Injury” reports; and • Implemented documentation for safe working instructions.
