Triple driver needed for Cairns to Bamaga run, handling tough conditions and remote operations.
Bamaga Transport is looking for an A triple driver on our run from Cairns to Bamaga on the tip of Cape York Peninsula. We have probably one of the hardest & toughest transport operations in Australia. You can find us on the latest season of Outback Truckers to see what is going on. We operate older trucks & trailers that can handle the corrugations & bull dust and we keep them in top mechanical condition.
There are no schedules imposed as it depends on road conditions — if the road is good I can get a triple up there in 13 hours — when the road is bad it might take 38 hours. If any customer asks you when you will arrive — Just say– possibly this week — maybe next week. Works for Me.
The Key Responsibilities of the position are to get the freight through undamaged & the gear in one piece — time is irrelevant — There are sections of road where it might take 7 hours to travel 10 kilometers — just have to drive to the conditions. Main this is just keep the show on the road.
The Skills & Qualification required to tackle the job is a bit of a mystery (bit of insanity probably helps). Need an MC license or HC that can be upgraded — I am happy to take on a young bloke wanting to have a go and learn "old style" trucking. As long as you have the patience to get the freight through undamaged I will give you a go.
The Preferred Qualification is whatever you have that fits the situation you are applying for. Or something close that I can assist with for the right bloke. Because we live in a remote area, I can qualify you for MC if you hold a HC
We offer Corrugations, Washouts, Bulldust, Hardwork & plenty of other disasters. Wages will be something in the order of $2K to $3k per trip (Cairns – Bamaga – Cairns) with a lot of other variables. Accomodation supplied if required.
