We are excited to advise that we are undertaking a search for an Assistant Depot Manager to join our growing Sunshine Coast based team.
GaKa Transport is a Sunshine Coast based general freight transport company operating between Brisbane and Noosa. We are a dynamic company with significant growth potential and as a result we are looking for people to join our growing team in both driver and semi-managerial roles.
The objective of the Assistant Depot Manager is to provide operational, administrative and coordination support to the Operations Manager including freight coordination, truck loading and unloading (fork lift) and general depot activities and to act in the role of Operations Manager from time to time. The role will include at least 50% driving of both semi-trailers and heavy rigid vehicles.
The role will also include assisting with the preparation and implementation of policies and procedures and generating a culture of safety, growth and inclusion.
Experience and licences
- Heavy Combination (HC) licence
- Heavy Rigid (HR) licence
- Fork lift ticket
- Experience coordinating delivery and pick-up schedules, managing people, liasing with clients and loading/unloading trucks
- Good understanding and experience complying with and implementing health and safety procedures
- Proficient in the operation of standard office technology (PC’s, printers, systems etc)
Depot operations
- Understand, implement and monitor compliance with company processes and procedures including safety, truck repairs and maintenance, paperwork (connotes, PODs…), National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), etc
- As required prepare loading plans, freight management and scheduling
- Fork-lift loading and unloading of trucks
- Driver coordination and management as required
- Client and stakeholder communications as required
- Depot management and maintenance including presentation, improvements and performance
- Support and monitor the maintenance and presentation of all trucks to ensure compliance with servicing, standards and presentation (inside and out)
- Act as the Operations Manager from time to time when the Operations Manager is on leave or absent
Truck driving
- Complete pick-ups and deliveries in a semi-trailer as required
- Complete pick-ups and deliveries in a heavy rigid vehicle as required
- Comply with relevant NHVR driver requirements for maintenance and safety
- Positively represent the Company at all times with clients, partners, and the general public
Risk, Health, Safety, Quality and Environment
- Drive a culture of safety and act as a leader in safe practices and compliance with OH&S protocols
- Identify as part of day to day operations, areas of non-compliance and areas for improvement
- Report any identified risks and manage through to the implementation of change
