Our Warehouse is located in Belmont and the SecondBite Driver/Warehouse Assistant is at the forefront of our service. The role involves the collecting, sorting and delivering of surplus fresh produce from local markets, wholesale markets, supermarkets and growers and its delivery to recipient agencies.
The produce collected is sorted for quality and assembled into delivery runs before being delivered to agencies. The Driver/Warehouse Assistant is part of the distribution team working collaboratively to achieve efficient high-quality turnaround to agencies that provide services to disadvantaged people.
Responsibilities include:
- Collect and deliver products as per delivery and collection instructions
- Ensure all requirements of the food and workplace safety legislation and SecondBite policies and procedures are abided by at all times
- Provide general assistance in the warehouse as required
- Liaise with food donors and agency personnel when making collections or deliveries to maximise the potential effectiveness of the program
- Complete delivery reports as requested for all collections and deliveries
- Ensure the delivery vehicle is clean and maintained at all times
- Receive and unload donations and deliveries
- Sort, store, pick food and makeup of orders for warehouse collections and deliveries
Qualifications & Experience (Key Selection Criteria)
- Minimum of an MR Truck Licence (Mandatory)
- A current unrestricted Driver's License (Mandatory)
- A Current Forklift Licence (Mandatory)
- Good customer service skills which can help develop positive relationships with donors and agencies
- An empathetic approach to the issues surrounding nutritional poverty and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards
- A basic data entry skills and ability to confidently use a smartphone
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Strong team player
You must have a current right to work in Australia to be considered for these positions.
