• Manage all day-to-day operational requirements for the Nedrill Operations across both the Civil and Mining side of the Business.
• Work with the Western Desert Management team to coordinate the Drill and Blast crews along a 188 Klms stretch of new haul road that will service the new mine site once completed.

• Recruited into the Downer Blasting Services (DBS) Business, to review current contracts and practices. It was then my responsibility to develop business plans which would enable DBS in the Western Division to grow into a Large Explosives Supplier for WA, SA and NT States. At that time there were only 2 contracts. Within 3 years of being in the Position, Downer Blasting Services where successful in retaining the two original contracts through extensions and won a further 6 Contracts, expanding the Employee workforce from 20 up to 130 plus.
(To ensure DBS were seen within the Mining and Explosive Industry by potential clients as another professional option for all of their Explosive and Blasting requirements)
• Overall responsibility for the Safety, Commercial and Operational areas of the Western Division. Operational Sites being. FMG Cloud break, FMG/Downer Mining – Christmas Creek being a full service, Flinders Powers SA, Mt Catlin, Carosure Dam, Karara, Murrin Murrin, Collie.
• Complete review of the Sites and the Companies Safety compliance in relation to the State and Federal Dangerous Goods Codes in all areas of concern. (Much of this time was spent in Operational issues) Have all short falls corrected along with ensuring all new Safety policies and procedures are up to date and across all sites.
• Drive the negotiations for supply contracts with several Major Equipment manufacturers and Service companies across Asia Pacific and America for the supply of Explosive MPUs other Dangerous Goods delivery systems. E.g., International Explosive Equipment, Toll, Mitchells West, Tread Company USA, Scott’s etc.
• Review and develop business plans in relation to targeted customers and potential contracts due to go to tender in WA/NT and SA. Also developed a 1, 3 and 5-year business plan for the region.
• Implement maintenance schedules for fixed and Mobile plant Equipment.
• Travelled to Sichen Iron Ore Mine in Sth Africa as part Tender preparation for the Karara Mining Contract in WA. (won)
• Clean-up of the Manufacturing sites; ensure compliance to State and Federal SRS regulations.
• Identify and relocate the complete Downer Blasting Division Offices and personnel. Design Office area to suit, plan and budget Office fitters, IT requirements, Furniture and equipment Etc. Coordinate office move.
• Work with and meet regularly the WA and SA State Government authorities. Ensure total compliance across the board in relation to Road Transport, Dangerous Goods and Explosives acts, putting Safety at the forefront of every new Project
• Setup and started to Identified areas in the business were potential future development or modifications of current equipment could potentially bring new Opportunities to the business. These areas included, but were not restricted too, Dangerous Good storage and transport, new Mobile Processing Units, (MPUs) other DG or Explosive truck designs, Fixed and Mobile Plant, Manufacturing Plant and also fit for purpose delivery systems. Other areas are always considered but focusing on the key areas of expenditure proved to return the greatest value.
• Safely managed the complete relocation of the Collie Manufacturing Facility. This was an extremely large logistical Operation. During the 35 Day shutdown, No clients were shorted with their Emulsion requirements and the relocation was a success. (Plans had been put in place to relocate the facility prior too me starting with DBS. After reviewing the plans that had been developed, I felt there were better options available to DBS. I then changed the relocation plans and safely managed the project myself which ended up delivering a savings of over 7 Million Dollars.)
