About me:

Candidate Info :
I’ve been working in the Print Trade most of my professional life.
Then Covid hit which shut down the Print Trade so I adapted.
In the UK drove 7.5 tonne flatbed trucks delivering building materials to various destinations ove the south-east of England.
I recently passed my MC License (Synchro/Auto) plus have a Forklift License and White Card.
I’m looking for HC driving work to begin with doing long-haul bulk drops during weekdays but would be available some weekends if needed.

Experience :
Worked As N/A at PERSONAL SUMMARY AND HOBBIES from July 1982 to till now
Print has been in my family for years – my Dad was a Compositor working at The Cut in London, my Grandad worked for the Daily Mail tabloid before he fought in the Second
World War and my Great Uncle was also in print before going off to fight in Gallipoli with the Cavalry, then returned to print and I have been in print pretty much since leaving school.

I have an easy-going pleasant manner and consider myself to be conscientious, punctual,
reliable, honest and trustworthy, can multi-task, time manage, communicate well with others and can provide references and personal referees if required.

I have many varied interests which include cycling, bush walking, making drone videos,
racquet sports, and snooker. I am also interested in new technologies in my particular field and have ambition as well as drive to succeed in things I set my mind upon to achieve.

I also enjoy going to the cinema and other communicational activities such as amateur
radio & telecommunications having held a Ham Radio License.

In my younger years I used to run a mobile disco in the UK with a friend (we were one of the first DJs to mix and remix live with the use of digital samplers back in the 80’s and use
lasers in the 90’s), DJ’d part-time in local Nightclubs as well and some local restaurants on alternate weekends and have worked with Pete Tong (UK Radio 1), Jimmy Z (Nova FM),
Stonebridge, Kosheen, Edwin Starr, Artifacts, The Freemasons, Potbelleez and have mixes
released by DMC in the UK, DJ’d at London’s Ministry of Sound, Heaven and Hippodrome
clubs as well as having my mixes played on London’s Capital Radio, London’s Kiss FM, Nova
FM here in Australia as well as radio stations around the world.

I’m also a keen photographer and amateur film maker using high definition cams, a drone and do production in Final Cut Pro.

Working for Agencies I was driving MR/HR trucks delivering dry, frozen and chilled goods to regional destinations throughout South East Queensland, then delivering alcohol over the outer Brisbane area.

Worked As Digital Press Operator at Q PRINT GROUP from June 2017 to March 2020
Working in a very fast-paced environment, my main duties are running a Fiji Xerox Versant
2100, CP1000, Iredesse and Nuvera 144 EA digital production presses to the highest
possible standards. Due to limitations of the installed workflow, I also do a lot of Prepress
and impositions, calculating creep on booklets as well as general impositions aiming to have the least amount of print setups and finishing time.
I have also recently been creating drag and drop automated queues in Freeflow to minimise
errors and implemented a correct way of imposing ganged up files as well as giving the Prepress Department some training.

Worked As Prepress Supervisor at THE ECKERSLEY GROUP from November 2016 to May 2017
was to preflight
files and typeset jobs then impose offset and digital jobs in Preps 7 via Prinergy then proof to clients and run plates once approved, plus keep job status updated in Quote and Print.
I also prepared large format jobs for printing on a HP Latex machine as well as digital
knives for trimming or top cutting. Sadly work got very quiet and they informed me they
could not afford to keep me employed and I was made redundant.

Worked As Senior Prepress Operator at TOTAL PRINT CONTROL from May 2015 to November 2016
was to preflight incoming files and fix potential problems, typesetting and some design, imposition and Epson proofing of files to output on an Agfa CTP Plate setter using ApogeeX or
impose digital jobs in Preps 7 or SmartStream for small format digital jobs which I then
ran on a Fiji Xerox J75 digital press.
I also prepared files for large format printing for an Agfa Anapuna and created digital
knives to be used with a profile cutter using KaseMate.
I left due to being offered a job I had previously applied for in Queensland.

Worked As Senior Pre-Press Operator at GRAPHICS PLUS PRINTING from April 2009 to March 2015
involved preflight of client files, typesetting artwork and setup of opaque whites under the artwork for UV printing. I was also responsible for creating
mockups, running Epson proofs and outputting plates.
I was made redundant when the company went into voluntary Insolvency and closed down.

Worked As Pre-Pres Operator I at Planet Press from April 2009 to April 2010
was responsible for flightcheck of supplied files and fix them if
needed using Pitstop Pro or Illustrator, creating artwork, typesetting, imposition of files in Preps then processing through the Apogee X workflow system and then running proofs to an Agfa Sherpa and plates to the Agfa Galileo CTP.
I was also responsible for modification of supplied Exel databases then flowing in information for variable data publishing using XMPie and outputting files for digital print to a HP Indigo,
speak with reps and clients and have also had a few hours training on running the Indigo.
I left as the owner retired and the new owner did not wish to renew any 457 Visas (which I was on at the time) for existing staff who were on them so I found the above job.

Worked As Pre-Press Manager at Snap Printing from September 2004 to April 2009
included job scheduling, generation of artwork, imposition of files with Quite Imposing and Heidelberg SignaStation, outputting to CTP or running
film using an Apogee Viper RIP, preflight of supplied files, editing PDFs using Pitstop Pro,
liaising with the Sales team and clients, running Epson proofs as well as administration of the Macintosh Servers, network and systems.
I left for the above job.

Worked As Retoucher and Photographer in the Digital Photography at PIER HOUSE DIGITAL WORLD from January 2000 to September 2004
UK
Working to the highest ISO Accredited Standards, varied duties included electronic imposition,
running out film to IGP Hercules and Linotronic 630 Imagesetters, producing Iris, Epson and Novajet digital proofs.
I then went on to becoming a Retoucher and Photographer in the Digital Photography
studio capturing images from Bronica Hassleblad, Kodak, Fuji and Nikon digital cameras
(on and off site). I also captured and edited digital video footage for ‘secret shopper’ Market
Research in Final Cut Pro and exported the footage to DVD then illustrated my findings to
the Board of Directors and Sales team by way of a PowerPoint presentation, video with narration, stills footage and a written report.
Duties also included image manipulation (layer masks/cutouts/montage/retouching etc),
colour correction and balance, scanning, generation of Point Of Sale electronic artwork for
use with print, web and plasma screen displays and automation of image conversion using
Actions/Droplets in Photoshop which I programmed to optimise graphics for a client
home shopping website (Waitrose UK).
I also came up with the concept for distribution to individual supermarkets for bespoke POS
content using satellite nodes which was being put into operation when I left for Australia.

Worked As Prepress Mac Operator at WILLIAMSONS PRINTING from November 1998 to November 1999
UK
Working on four bi-monthly magazines and multi-lingual Conference Brochures/Itineraries
several of my duties were typesetting, page layout, running out film to Screen image
setters, creating impositions using TaigaSpace and scanning using Screen flatbed or a
Crossfield drum scanner, colour correction and creating cutouts and clipping paths.
Williamsons were taken over by another company with their own staff when they folded.

Worked As Camera Operator, Film Planner and Plate Maker at City & Guilds Trade from March 1989 to November 1998
My duties were to keep the presses supplied with plates and maintain the artwork and film/plate filing systems.
On the job training and a 3 year City & Guilds Trade course extended my duties to ordering
stock and supplies plus the operation of a Gestetner G2-11, Heidelberg GTO 52 and KORD
64 single colour printing presses up to four colour process printing standard. A promotion
then led me to be responsible for the day to day running of the Prep Department including
graphic design, typesetting and artwork, planning, platemaking and the maintenance of the hardware and software and came under the title of Graphic Artist/Department Manager.
I left for the above job but still continued to create artwork and run off jobs on the presses on a freelance basis outside of my other work commitments until I moved to Australia.
The Proprietor died and Lee Printers are no longer trading.
