Worked As FIREFIGHTER at METROPOLITAN FIRE BRIGADE from March 2014 to January 2016
FIREFIGHTER, METROPOLITAN FIRE BRIGADE (MFB)
March 2014 – present
After almost 5 years of recruitment tests and processes I was accepted into the MFB as a recruit firefighter. I undertook 19 weeks of extensive training and have been out ‘on shift’ since. An MFB firefighter has to provide a wide range of services to the community. From car accidents, hazmat incidents, emergency medical response and fires, we are required to have specific training and skills to handle and adapt to many different situations. We engage with the community through various programs so communication skills are paramount. Mechanical aptitude and logical thinking is required in many situations and the ability to think on your feet and handle stressful circumstances. We work 2 x 10 hour day shifts followed by 2 x 14 hour night shifts, then 4 days off. I love being a firefighter and hope to have a long rewarding career as one
Worked As FLEET SUPPORT OFFICER at Leaseplan from August 2013 to March 2014
FLEET SUPPORT OFFICER, LEASEPLAN
Aug 2013 – March 2014
An attractive offer from Leaseplan made it hard to refuse so I left Caval for a 6+ month contract as a Fleet Support Officer. I also was advised from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade that my employment with them was secured and the start date would most likely be early in the following year. The main role of my position at Leaseplan was to process toll infringements and allocate them to the appropriate company/driver. Attention to detail and accuracy was everything as there was substantial data entry with no room for error. I also responded to complaints and fleet support enquiries.

After the birth of my son I accepted a position at a company called Caval who supply specialised library services to university libraries, public libraries and special and government libraries. My role as a digitising operator is to operate a unique scanning machine and undertake different processes and tasks in the digitising process. This position requires a very keen eye for detail, knowledge of different computer software and programs, focus and attention for long periods of time, teamwork and the ability to adapt to different requirements and projects. In recent months I have been given the responsibility of creating the weekly staff roster and team leader of different projects.
Worked As TOUR GUIDE/DRIVER at GO WEST DAY TOURS from May 2011 to May 2013

Getting back to my passion for tourism and also the outdoors I started work with Go West as a driver/tour guide. Go West provide numerous day tours to locations such as the Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island and the Yarra Valley. Though a large learning curve presented itself I threw myself in the deep in and before long I was enjoying myself with up to 30 passengers out on the road. This job required many skills as you handled everything yourself throughout the day. Some critical attributes that helped me succeed in this position was thinking on my feet, problem solving, relating to customers of different ages, cultures and backgrounds, attention to detail and to be very flexible. This position also required long hours up to 18 hour shifts so to be able to focus on the task at hand was also very important. I was also given the role of Operations Manager occasionally – the person in charge of departing buses and any on-road issues.
