RESPONSIBILITIES
• Inspecting vehicles for mechanical items, safety issues before start driving shifts.
• Ensure accurate, timely pickups and deliveries by memorizing routes and maintaining healthy routines to ensure alertness during early morning shifts.
• Verify the contents of a truck before going out on the road, making sure everything is accurate on shipping papers.
• Unload cargo from truck once destination has been reached, communicating dispatch of progress and when the truck would be returned to the warehouse.
• Reported delays to dispatch, including several instances where trucks running late due to traffic or customer docks busy, so everyone remained aware of the situation.
• Maintained vehicle log, cargo records and billing statements in accordance with regulations.
• Obeyed traffic laws and followed established traffic and transport procedures.
• Complete routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries and fuelling tanks.
• Perform basic maintenances on trucks, including fixing minor issues and defects to ensure safety and efficiency.
