Civilscan is a well respected utility locating company servicing all areas of NSW. We are a DBYD (Dial Before You Dig), Telstra & Optus accredited locating company.
We provide utility locating services and a number of other locating services such as concrete scanning & Non destructive excavation.
About the role
Civilscan is seeking to employ a suitably experienced and qualified person to fulfil our vacant vac truck operator position. This opportunity is also a chance to move into a management role once reliability is proven & established.
The vacuum truck operator shall fulfil the following duties:
– Driving and operating vacuum truck unit in efforts to validate public utilities, drain pits and other non destructive excavation works as required.in all areas as req'd
– Communicating with the office, site supervisor, and fellow crew members to complete jobs with focus on safety, and environmental management
– Adhere to Civilscan operational, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
– Accurately complete work orders and compliance paperwork associated with job duties
– Identify and prevent potential hazards and report information to appropriate personnel
– Participate in regular on-site and off-site safety meetings and training sessions
– Perform regular maintenance on the vacuum truck while following safe work procedures
– Using and maintaining the required safety equipment (PPE) and matching the equipment to prevailing hazard
– Conduct pre-trip inspection and complete a report providing information on; fluid levels, engine and belt conditions, air brakes, slack adjuster, air lines, wheels, etc.
– Operate the plant and equipment to manufacturer specifications and guidelines
– Undertake activities associated with road openings and road restoration inc operating concrete saw, jackhammer, tamping attachments, backfilling etc.
– Assist the locating team from time to time
– Perform general labour activities from time to time

Skills and experience
The vacuum truck operator shall have the following skills & experience
– Flexibility to work a variety of shifts if required
– Ability to follow, and enforce safe work procedures, codes, and regulations.
– Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
– A highly energetic, self-starter with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
– Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with a high attention to detail
– Proven ability to adapt to a variety of environmental factors and extreme weather conditions while performing operational requirements
– Works and inspires others to work at high performance levels
– Ability to write comprehensive reports and maintain routine logs with a high attention to detail
– Experience making immediate decisions, while maintaining composure, in high pressure situations with minimal supervision
– Ability to operate heavy equipment
– Must be mechanically inclined
– Traffic Management tickets highly regarded
