DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Delivered general fright from distribution centre to commercial and industrial areas using self-developed routes.
• Inspected the truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips.
• Maneuvered trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew ensuring vehicle and loading equipment were properly positioned.
• Attended and participated in all driver safety meetings.
• Verified all dispatch instructions.
• Established and maintained excellent customer relationships.
• Correctly marked invoices and clearly noted returns and shorts.
• Verified hazardous material product descriptions and determined any discrepancies in the paperwork.
• Loaded and unloaded freight to assure safety and minimize risk of damage and dangerous conditions.
• Inspected tires, lights, brakes and gas, oil and water levels.
• Completed basic maintenance such as minor repairs to keep vehicle neat and running properly.
• Checked shipping papers to determine the nature of load and checked for the presence of hazardous materials.
